Every week, we will be running two breathing and mindfulness sessions on Mondays and Fridays

As we enter a period of unimaginable change most of our lives are going to be turned upside down in one way or another. At the Yurt Academy we want to be a force for good to help you use your human intelligence to not just get through this period, but to thrive. It’s going to be tough, but it could also be very rewarding.
We don’t know for sure, but we believe that many of us will go through a cycle of emotions as adapt to isolation and social distancing. We’ve named the four phases: uncertainty, frustration, acceptance, optimism.
Free series of online sessions
We have designed a series of free 30-minute online sessions to accompany people through the four phases, helping support people’s emotional and physical wellbeing, build skills and a deeper connection to self and community.
- The start point is UNCERTAINTY, where we will feel fear and isolation.
In this phase, our sessions build mental resilience and focus on positivity, self care and shifting mindsets.
- We will then move into a period of FRUSTRATION, where we will need high emotional intelligence to keep ourselves well.
In this phase, our sessions focus on taking control and support your emotional intelligence, self-management and connection with your power within.
- Hopefully we will transition into ACCEPTANCE, acceptance of a new world order and will need to find new ways of seeing, thinking and being.
In this phase, we help you build strengths and the sessions focus on your self-development and flexing your creative muscle.
- And finally, we will see OPTIMISM for the future and can begin to upskill and learn again.
To prepare you to enter a reshaped world of work, we focus on lifelong learning and boosting your skills.
Every week will be bookended with BREATHING SESSIONS which combine some theory, practical tips and breathing exercises to help people better manage mental and physical wellbeing.
Stand alone and interlocking
You can join any session and reap the benefits or follow the entire interlocking series as we support you through all four phases.
Initially they will be run by Co-Directors Alexandra and Bridget; further down the line we are hoping to invite some of our Yurt Keepers and community members to share their expertise with you all.

The workshops will be run using the Zoom software. Zoom allows us to set up a virtual classroom where you can share comments with your fellow online classmates, ask us questions and follow our course content.
You don’t need a Zoom account to attend (or any particular technical expertise) but you do need to have downloaded the Zoom app on your device. You can find out more here: https://zoom.us/
What you need to attend
Please bring some paper and pens with you as the workshops are interactive and you’ll be invited to take part in some exercises.
For the Breathing workshops, please wash your hands before attending as some of the breathing exercises involve touching the face!
